Happy One Year Anniversary to Louise Kaufman

Louise has been a Senior Companion at Family First Home Companions since September 2015 after having previous experience working as a recreational assistant at a nursing home and working with geriatric patients at a hospital.  Louise has worked with several clients at Family First and was with one client for over eight months until her needs required a higher level of care.

Louise enjoys working with older adults and this is most evident in her attentive, nurturing nature with her clients.  She is very prompt with providing feedback and updates to the office about her clients’ needs and has great observation skills.  She communicates any concerns right away so that our clients’ family members can address issues that arise.

Louise’s current client recently told the office at Family First that she is “one hundred percent pleased with Louise.  She is amazing and this experience has been made much better because of her.  Louise does not sit down at all when she’s there because she likes to stay busy helping her.”

Jennifer Benjamin has a Masters degree in Business Administration, a graduate Certificate in Geriatric Care Management, is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and is co-founder of Family First Home Companions .With a background in human resources and business management she helped to build a company that is founded on professionalism, integrity, compassion and know-how.

Jennifer has specialized training in Alzheimer’s disease through the Long Island Alzheimer’s Association and the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation.She also volunteered her time with the Alzheimer's Disease Assistance Center of Long Island for 3 years by providing cognitive stimulation to an Alzheimer’s patient group.

Jennifer educates the community about elder care and speaks to caregiver support groups, senior centers, and at professional organizations.Topics include home safety, effective strategies for family caregiving, elder care planning, and awareness about elder abuse.
