Every year, millions of families face the challenges that come with Alzheimer’s disease. The diagnosis impacts far more than the individual. It affects spouses, children, grandchildren, friends, and entire support networks. At Family First Home Companions, we witness these realities every day through the families we serve across Long Island and New York.
That is why our commitment to the fight against Alzheimer’s disease extends beyond the services we provide in client’s homes. It is a cause tht is deeply personal to our team, our leadership, and our mission. Through our ongoing partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association and our active participation in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, we remain dedicated to supporting research, raising awareness, and helping local families navigate the challenges of dementia and memory loss.
Why Alzheimer’s Disease Matters to Us
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, affection nearly seven million Americans. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, that number is expected to continue growing as the population ages. The disease gradually impacts memory, thinking, behavior, and the ability to perform everyday activities, often creating significant emotional and physical demands on family caregivers.
As a home care provider, Family First Home Companions works closely with individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. We understand families often experience uncertainty , stress, and concern as they navigate changing care needs.
Our caregivers provide companionship, supervision, engagement, and support that helps individuals remain safe and comfortable at home while giving family members valuable peace of mind. Through these experiences, we see firsthand why education, advocacy, and research and support services.

Our Partnership with the Alheimer’s Association
Family First Home Companuons is proud to maintain an ongoing partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, an organization that has become the leadering voluntary health organization dedicated to Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.
This partnership reflects our belief that supporting families requires more than providing care services. It requires investing in community resources, educational programs, caregiver support, and initiatives that bring us closer to a world without Alzheimer’s disease.
Throughout the year, our team participates in educational events, community outreach initiatives, and fundraising efforts designed to support the Alzheimer’s Association’s missions. By working together with healthcare professionals, community organizations, and local families, we help expand awareness and provide valuable resources to those impacted by dementia.
Our committment aligns closely with our mission of helping older adults maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life while remaining in the comfort of their own homes.
Walking Together for a Cure
One of the most meaningful ways we support the Alzheimer’s Association is through our participation in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event dedicated to Alzheimers’s awareness and fundraising. Each year, participants gather in communities across the country to honor loved ones, remember those who have been lost, support caregivers, and raise funds that advance research and support services.Â
For our team, the walk represents much more than a fundraising event. It is an opportunity to stand alongside families who understand the impact of this disease firsthand. Every step taken serves as a reminder that no family should face Alzheimer’s alone.
The event also creates opportunities for connection. Families, healthcare providers, caregivers, community leaders, and advocates come together with a shared goal of creating hope for future generations.

This level of involvement reflects our belief that meaningful change requires action. By contributing time, expertise, and leadership we help strengthen local fundraising efforts and expand awareness throughout the communities we serve.
Our leadership team works closely with fellow committee members, healthcare organizations, sponsors, and volunteers to ensure the success of each year’s event. These collaborative efforts help maximize community engagement and create greater opportunities for education and support.Â
Supporting Local Families Living with Alzheimer’s Disease

The emotional toll can be significant.
That is why Family First Home Companions remains committed to providing personalized support that helps families maintain balance and confidence throughout the caregiving journey.
Our caregivers can assist with:

- Transportation and accompaniment
- Respitre care for family caregivers
By providing reliable support, we help families create sustainable care plans that allow loved ones to remain at home whenever possible.
